After traveling far and wide, I discovered an oasis of natural beauty just a few miles south of my home.
Cherry Creek State Park has a large area of natural prairie and wetlands surrounding an 880-acre reservoir. After purchasing an $80 yearly pass a few weeks ago, this park and Chatfield State Park, which is farther south and a bit west, have both become my new favorite hiking locations.
Our dog Atlas jumps anytime I suggest we go to the park.
If only I hadn’t sold my fishing boat a few years back. I might have to figure out a way to get out on that water next summer.
